Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Delivers the First 7000TEU Container Ship for RCL Construction
On April 18th, four 7000TEU container ship prototype ships, GURU BHUM, jointly built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Corporation, and China Shipbuilding Industry and Trade Co., Ltd. for Thailand's Honghai Container Transport (RCL), were successfully delivered. This is the first cooperation between Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and Honghai Container Transport. The delivery of the first ship will lay a solid foundation for the construction of the series of ships and further consolidate the close cooperation between the two sides.
Sirichai Manoch, Vice Chairman of the Mining Commission of Thailand, Sumate Tanthuwanit, Chairman of RCL Thailand, Twinchok Tanthuwanit, President, Somchai Eiampimularat, Shipping Manager, Runichiro Iida, Vice President of Japan Classification Society, Zhou Zhiyong, Vice President of Shanghai Shipbuilding Design and Research Institute, Lin Jie, Chief Expert, Xiong Kechao, Special Agent of China Shipbuilding Corporation's Trade Business Department, Chen Gang, General Manager of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, Zhang Wei, Deputy General Manager, and relevant representatives of various companies attended the naming ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Li Zhizhong, the director of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.

In the construction process of this series of ships, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding fully utilized its technological and talent advantages, successfully achieving the "four zeros" goal of "zero opinions on segmentation, zero opinions on docking, zero opinions on trial voyage, and zero opinions on ship delivery", ensuring that the quality of the ship reaches the international first-class level. The Guru Bum will undoubtedly demonstrate outstanding performance in future voyages, creating maximum value for Honghai container transportation. Looking ahead to the future, he looks forward to deepening cooperation with Honghai Container Transport in more fields and jointly promoting the further development of both sides.
Twinchok Tanthuwanit stated that today's naming ceremony is the culmination of years of cooperation and shared vision between both parties. He expressed gratitude to all parties for their attendance. The Guru Bum has a more efficient propulsion system than previous generations of ships, equipped with the latest equipment, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective, achieving a significant leap in sustainability and efficiency. Honghai Container Transport is committed to excellence in the field of container ships and currently operates a fleet of 41 container ships. In the future, Honghai Container Transport will continue to work together with all parties to write a new chapter and redefine industry standards.
The total length of the "Guru Bum" vessel is 272 meters, with a molded width of 42.8 meters and a molded depth of 24.60 meters. It has a designed draft of 15.00 meters and a designed speed of 21.00 knots, meeting TIER III standards and is classified by Japan Classification Society. This ship is equipped with an open desulfurization tower and is a green and environmentally friendly container ship.
