Jingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has received an order for one heavy transport vessel (HTV) from each of the two shipowners.

Recently, Danish heavy lift shipping company BigLift Shipping announced that it has partnered with its South Korean partner CY Shipping to order two BC class heavy transport ships for Nanyang vessels. CY Shipping's first ship will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025, and BigLift's second ship will be delivered in the second quarter of 2026.

These two new ships were jointly designed by CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping to transport ultra large and heavy modular cargo worldwide, with a focus on reliable service speed, low acceleration, and optimized loading and unloading time. Due to its similar frame spacing, water depth, ballast and tidal compensation capabilities, the new ship can be interchanged with BigLift's MC class ships "BigLift Barentsz" and "BigLift Baffin", providing greater deck length and stern loading capacity.

The BC class heavy transport vessel has a total length of 180 meters, a width of 43 meters, a depth of 12 meters, a maximum load capacity of 25000 tons, a crushing capacity of 12000 cubic meters per hour, a deck area of 43 x 140 meters, and a completely unobstructed deck space of 6020 square meters. Goods can be loaded and unloaded at the stern or side of the ship through roll on/roll off or sliding methods.

James Jung, Director of CY Shipping, said, "I am very proud and excited to further strengthen our partnership with BigLift Shipping. As a modern company, we understand the importance of leading the market demand, being unique, and adding value to customer needs."

BigLift Shipping and CY Shipping have been collaborating since 2019 to combine their heavy transportation shipping capabilities. The joint fleet of the two companies consists of four heavy-duty transport ships, fully operated commercially by BigLift Shipping. The newly built two ships will expand the fleet size to six, allowing BigLift Shipping to provide more unique transportation services and participate in long-term contracts and single voyages worldwide.

It is understood that BigLift Shipping is a subsidiary of Spliethoff, the largest shipping company in the Netherlands, specializing in global ocean transportation of roll on/roll off, heavy lifting, and project cargo, with a history dating back to 1973. At present, the company has a modern fleet consisting of 4 heavy transport ships and 21 heavy lifting vessels.

CY Shipping was founded in 2001, headquartered in Busan, South Korea, and focuses on global ocean transportation of overweight and oversized goods. Its fleet owns and operates two identical CY class transport ships, the CY Interocean I and the CY Interocean II. Starting from the beginning of 2019, CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping reached a commercial agreement to form a joint fleet of heavy-duty transport ships, consisting of two CY class ships from CY Shipping and two MC class ships from BigLift Shipping.

Jingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is a Sino foreign joint venture shipbuilding enterprise jointly invested and established with Nantong Tiannan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Singapore Ocean Company. It has the production capacity and professional technical level to build various types of ships. According to Clarkson's data, Nanyang Shipping currently holds a total of 12 orders of 315000 deadweight tons, including 2 heavy transport ships, 4 bulk carriers, and 6 three purpose working ships (AHTS), with delivery scheduled until 2026.
